On Monday, January 19th, we will be working on the second project in our Carol Cypher Memorial Bead Along. The project is from page 85 of her book Mastering Beadwork, the Mardi Gras Netted Beaded Bead.
I'll be 100% honest with you. I came close to canceling this project and moving on to the next because I spent two days trying to get it figured out. No matter what I did, the project would not work with the size beads listed in the supply list. After two days, I switched to a different size bead, and the bead worked out beautifully. I'm so glad I stuck it out because I ended up loving making the beads and cannot wait to make more and turn them into a complete necklace.
The project calls for 11/0 Miyuki Seed Beads. Those did not work for me, so I had to switch to 15/0 Miyuki Seed Beads. I used seven colors, but you can use one or two. Also, you can use Toho Seed Beads, but you may have to adjust your bead counts to get them to work correctly.
Here are the colors of 15/0's I used:
Silver Lined Raspberry 15-1436
Matte Opaque Lime 15-2316
Opaque Navy Blue 15-4493
Opaque Orange 15-4454
Muscat 15-4206
Opaque Purple 15-4490
Dark Turquoise 15-413D
You can find wood beads at just about any craft store, but these two are the ones I specifically used in the video: https://www.hobbylobby.com/crafts-hobbies/wood-crafts-blank-surfaces/wood-turnings/round-wood-beads---1---6-pieces/p/23255
