For this project I personally like to use two types of thread. For the side straps of the necklace I like to use Dura Thread or One G. The sides of the necklace need to drape and have a soft feel, so these two threads are best. I also use these same threads to make the connector strips. For the front ovals I suggest using 6lb Fire Line. The fire line will help keep the front loops stiff and will help them hold their shape. If you don’t want to use fire line you don’t have to as I didn’t on my first sample which was the turquoise and nickel color. If you choose to use Dura Thread or One G, I suggest either doubling your thread or go back and reinforce the piece once complete to help hole the shape of the oval.
This necklace will be made in many parts. First, you will be making three different size loops and their connector strips. Next, you will be making the side straps of your necklace. The side straps will determine the length of the finished piece. Finally, you will be making a beaded toggle clasp. This necklace will be a labor of love and will take a good amount of time but don’t give up on it because it is a master piece once finished.
This necklace is made using Cubic Right-Angle Weave. If you’re not a master at it currently, hopefully by the time you finish this project you will be!
You MUST know how to do Right Angle Weave to do this pattern as it is not described step by step.
Make sure when you are choosing your 11/0 and 15/0’s for the ovals that you choose the same brand of beads for both sizes. If you choose two different brands your ovals will not turn out correctly and you will have a very difficult time trying to get them to work.
